Professional Status for Science Technicians
First School Science Technicians obtain Registered Science Technician Status
The first Science Technicians to obtain Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) status were presented with their certificates by Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, and Lord Sainsbury at the Gatsby Foundation’s ‘Strengthening our Technician Workforce’ conference on 29 May this year.
Amongst those receiving their Registered Science Technician status were two School Science Technicians.
www.ScienceTechnicians.org hopes the Registered Science Technician status will help to raise the profile of Science Technicians working in education, recognising the skills they demonstrate in their role.
ASE is offering a fast track route for Science Technicians in education for 2012. Technicians must have at least 5 years experience and hold the LATA NVQ Level 3 or above. Further details and a downloadable application form may be found here:
