Professional Status for Science Technicians

The ASE and six other organisations have recently received a licence to award professional status to Science Technicians..
The aim of this is to promote CPD and give professional recognition to Science Technicians.
The application process will be fully operational in April 2012.
Details and application forms will be available from the 2nd of April 2012 which is the official launch.
There will be a fast track route until December 2012, for technicians with LATA NVQ level 3 and 5 years experience.
The ASE (and presumably the other organisations) are charging a £25 application fee and an increase in the annual subscription of £20 which will go to the Science Council for registration.

Please vote in our poll: Would you consider joining the register to gain professional status? Or debate it on the forum.

What do you think of the new professional status we would love to hear your views.
